The Japanese are seeing a decline in sales for cell phones, so they may make the jump across the Pacific and shake up the handset business. If they do make the leap over, they may introduce new features like using our phones as credit cards, water proof, huge screens, hundreds of colour choices, and many new features to come.

USB 3.0 & SATA Rev 3

USB (Universal Serial Bus) is almost finished with their new USB version 3.0 which is said to run at new awesome speeds; previously running at 480Mbps, the new version is apparently 10 times faster which is around 4.8Gbps max. Also pushing more power through the cable but not always on when connected to the computer, so has better power management.

SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is also almost finished with their newest revision (3rd to be exact). Older versions started at 1.5Gbps then 3.0Gbps, SATA's newest will have a very blazing fast speed of 6Gbps.
Both these connections have a great transfer speeds but USB is more commonly used among external electronics, SATA has always been the fastest alternative with eSATA but is not used everywhere, only time will tell if they create an eSATA Rev 3.
SATA here and USB here!
I will now be doing minimum 1 post everyday and at least 5 posts on Sunday (not including the Bajingo) Enjoy!

UW-Madison Researching Epic Size Hard Drives

The folks from UW-Madison are researching on a theory where they will be able to increase the density of stuff they can contain on the disks in the hard drives. I have no idea what they were talking about but this could lead us to attaining 5 Terabye hard drives.
SSDs take a step forward, Hard Disks could take a leap forward... this race is exciting.

Intel Making A Big Impact on SSDs

Intel is going to be releasing Solid State Drives, in the following sizes: 32, 64, 80, and 160GB versions. Yes, I said it, 160GB SSD with bandwidth of 240MB/s (read) and 70-170 MB/s (write); A very nice spec for a nice big hard drive, sounds like a winner to me...except maybe you could tell us how much it is... oh wait that will probably ruin it.

Olympic Fencers Use Space Suits

Well, not exactly space suits, but they sure do look like it. The Olympic fencers are using a special tech suit that it receives a signal when the wearer is hit, the suit then knows they are hit because it gives an electric charge from the saber to a wireless transmitter that transmits a signal to the person keeping the score. As well there are LED's on the helmets to clearly signal who has scored.

Intel Nehalem has morphed into i7

Intel has announced the real name for the code named Intel Nehalem, rumored to contain anywhere from 2 to 8 cores.
I am not going to begin to comment on this i(insert name here) naming convention...
Though the i7 name's significance still puzzles some people, as long as the product delivers.

Crazy cool Nerf guns are just amazing, especially when they look like they can give someone a new hole to defecate from and they're eyes will light up with amazement at the same time of how cool your gun is!
Apparently a Gizmodo reader went an painted his guns black, also adding lasers on his guns making them completely awesome.

iPhone App? Lame? no way!

Yes, there is an iPhone App that is really stupid and I am going to out right say right now, you are a complete idiot if you purchase this iPhone App.
The "I Am Rich" App...
On a side note, I already don't like the idea of buying an Apple product in the first place but I can't resist reporting on something this stupid. Plus Apple news is all over the tech sites anyways...*sigh*

Speedo Swimsuit makes swimmers go faster!

Speedo has created a swimsuit that has allowed for faster swim times, apparently reduces drag by 10% and has allowed for 8 records to be broken in the Olympics (and they JUST started!). There has been quite the fuss about these speed suits, and people are wondering if they are fair to use since the more poor countries do not have the kind of money to afford $500 swimsuits to their swimmers.

Gaming Addiction is becoming a problem?

Gaming addiction is actually becoming quite a serious problem, because of Massive multiplayer online role playing games or MMORPGs. The main problems of this addiction is the loss of contact with relationships (friends and family), and ignoring responsibilities (like going to work).
There is a help group for World of Warcraft players called, WoWdetox, a support group that helps deal with online gaming addictions. People talk about their stories, how they got addicted and pleads for help.
I think the real problem here is realizing that in a game all of your accomplishments in there mean nothing to your real life. Your friends and family are the real things that matter, what you do in your real life is what counts, not only to you but to everyone else you care about or who cares about you.

Intel Atom and Nano Platform Comparo duke it out

A review down by Tweak Town shows the benchmarks for the new Intel Atom and the Via Nano. You can have your own take on it but for the most part the Nano platform beats the Atom on low voltage, CPU usage for playback on video and can even run Crysis 6.95 frames better (or on average 15.26 fps) at 1024 x 768. So the battle for the UMPC processor goes on for these two, and we'll see who comes out on top when it comes to companies adapting their technology by next year.
On a side note, I was wondering what happened to AMD in this mobile PC business?

AMD Rocks it back on top

AMD's HD 4870 X2 is the fastest graphics card in the market (right now). The proof is in over 6 reviews, check out the links at Engadget. Nvidia has tooted it's own horn for long enough and AMD's ATI Radeon is back ontop with it's competative prices and better preformance for the buck cards.
Let's see how Nvidia is going to make the come back!
